Sports
Sports forms a key part of the Laa Columb Killey festival and everyone is encouraged to join in the fun and take part.
At 4:30pm children from Arbory School will participate in running races, egg and spoon, sack races and other novelty races.
At 6:00pm juniors will start their races, running, cycling
At 7:00pm Seniors will take to a 5.5km 'marathon' race around the village.
There'll be Junior events from 6pm & then 'Adults' at 7pm, which
will include our 'Marathon' for runners over a 5.5mile (approx.)
road course -- also an event for walkers over the same course. No
timekeepers & no judges -- this is a 'fun' event, but those taking
part take it pretty seriously!
Many of our local athletes have competed at LCK over the years &
really enjoyed it! Recent winners of the 'Marathon' / Jubilee Cup:
Paul Jackson, Paul Clarke, Mike Garrett, Paul Curphey, Robbie
Callister, Tom Cringle &, last year, Mike Gellion. Ladies winner
Sarah Nelson. Winning walkers have included Bridget Kaneen, Peter
Kaneen & Simon Cox.
Last year's winners, Nigel Armstrong won the Gents and Emma Rogan won the Ladies.
Hope to see more of you there this year. Road route for both the
runners & walkers:
